NCCE sessions - Hall Davidson - Staggeringly Good Things Mixing Google Earth and Media

This was very cool. Davidson taught us how to interlay photographs, video files and audio files on Google Earth. Apparently you can save pmz files of your own Goolgle Earth with unique quilities. Yes, your own Google Earth. He showed an example of someone who had created one of all the places mentioned by William Shakespeare. This guy wrote commenst and linked castles, photos, etc to places mentioned in Shakespeare's writing. It's a great idea, and I'd demo it with maybe some pictures over Spokane, but I know it would eat up another couple of hours and I have to start report cards. Here's a link to Hall Davidson's handout. Then you can figure it out and tell me about it.

Tracey,
I was poking around and 'discovered' this site. Very interesting stuff. I began playing with GoogleMaps as soon as it came out. I have a personal interest in viewing eagles nesting. There are several webcams devoted to this pursuit. I created a GoogleMap of the locations of the eagle nests the webcams display, just for fun. I think GoogleMaps would be a great teaching tool. Here's my EagleCam link for GoogleMaps,

Keep up the effort to infuse technology into the classroom!

Tracey,
If you want to create a clickable link in your blog messages, try this...
This is HTML code which will make the word EagleCam into a clickable link, EagleCam
To change it for your own text you simply need to substitute the http web address (within the quote marks) for the location you want to take someone to, and the word EagleCam, with the text you want to make clickable.
That's all there is to it.

Whoops! That didn't work like I'ld hoped it would. The blog system turned my example HTML code into HTML code. Imagine that!

Let's see if I can fool the system into displaying HTML as just text.

Place a left angle bracket (shift comma) here right before the capital A with no space,

then this text (put your own web URL between the quote marks),
A HREF="http://maps.google.com/maps/"

Place a right angle bracket (shift period) here right after the quote mark no space,

Then enter your text you want to make clickable

EagleCam

Place a left angle bracket (shift comma) here right before the slash character with no space,
then this text

/A

Place a right angle bracket (shift period) here right after the A no space.

Hope this helps you!
